Top 12 Needs for 2010

We find the most pressing needs as identified in our 32 HopeCentres and try to meet them. From building a new orphanage for street children, to buying a cow to provide milk for a healthy diet, to providing scholarships, to installing a generator to supply electricity. Whatever is needed, we try to find it, or raise funds to purchase it. Individuals, groups and churches have taken on projects, such as creating a marching band, building a playground, providing a college scholarship.

Major Projects

Bus for Gavaravaram - 12,00,000.00 = $27,273

There are 8 villages around our campus; some of the villages are quite far.  The children walk 10 or 12 kilometers along dangerous roads to reach school.  A bus brings them quickly and safely. With education, we can break the cycle of poverty for poor families.

Bus

Light roof for AWC - (Bangalore) I -
25,00,000.00 = $56,818

This house was built in 1968 when the province was very poor and the roof was built at minimum cost.  For the past three years the whole building is leaking badly.  Whenever there is rain, the sisters and hostel students have to leave the building. A new roof like this one is badly needed.

Roof

Jeep for Kanakakannu -
5,00,000.00 = $11,363

Kanakakannu is in a remote area and our sisters work in 15 villages and have to travel by foot and bus. They have no vehicle. The people are very poor and there are few schools. With a jeep we can bring the students to our school and improve the living conditions and standard of living.

Jeep

Rain water tank and Borewell (2) at Warangal school/ community -
6,00,000.00 = $11,363

Warangal has a scarcity of water. Seeing the condition of this place, and district as a whole, we need tanks so that we can harvest rainwater and also drill another borewell to get extra water for the school children. The people of this place are very poor and they need our help to improve their living conditions. We have a large school and a boarding facility for poor village girls.

Rain Water Tank

Generator at Puthupally -
2,80,000.00 = $6,363

We have a women’s hostel at this location. They are studying in the colleges and some of them are working girls. When the electricity cuts off, their education stops. We cannot use computers or have lights, so a generator is badly needed.

Generator
