Prathyasha Bhavan is an orphanage for 80 abandoned, neglected, abused girls in Kochi, India.  These are the poorest of the poor, whose past lives have seen horrible suffering and deprivation.  Please come into our website so that we might tell how YOU can be their bridge to a brighter future.  Paul and Tracy Wilkes, of Wilmington NC, discovered Home of Hope on a trip to India and serve as US coordinators for all those who want to help these precious girls.

New Building Dedicated – December 8, 2008 was a day to remember.  With the excellent Home of Hope marching band providing pomp and music, the new building that we have been working toward for two years is now a reality.  Our girls now have a comfortable bed (gone are the days of straw mats on a dirty concrete floor), a language lab to teach them spoken English, a sick room, their own personal little cubby for clothes, a warm shower, a  bright new dining hall.  These festive lights marked the happy occasion and Aswathi and her fellow band members played so well.                                                            

Our Work Expands –   The girls at the rural orphanage at Hassan, north of the IT center of Bangalore, were badly malnourished and had little or no protein in their diet of white rice and vegetables.  Through the generosity of parishioners at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, they now have four cows and a calf, and a substantial cow shed.  For some of the girls, when they drank a glass of milk, it was for the first time in their lives.

We Reach Out Further, With Your Help – There are poor, village girls at the new teachers’ college at Angamaly to be educated, poor schools in Andra Pradesh with pitifully inadequate books and supplies, young, poor working girls who need a safe place to live as they try to break the cycle of poverty.  In the days ahead, we will begin to address the needs of the 32 sites of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, Bangalore Province.  As we have shown with our work at Home of Hope, we can bring resources to bear, raise money for needed projects, and attract volunteers and experts in many fields to visit India and help in our work.

A "Wine to Water" golfing fundraiser and an enterprising couple in California provided money for clean drinking water. 

In Massachusetts, a family has built a much-needed shed so clothes can be dried during the monsoon and girls can be protected from the heavy rains. 

A doctor from John's Hopkins Hospital visits Home of Hope, gives physicals and creates a template for healthy living. 

A Microsoft computer expert revamps and updates computer rooms. 

Catholic grade school students in Rochester, NY and Ann Arbor, MI raised money for "Field of Dreams," a new playground in the making for the girls at Home of Hope. 

Students at a school in Pleasant Hill, California have provided instruments and uniforms for the Home of Hope All Girls Marching Band!
