Kochi Orphanage

Paul & Tracy Wilkes accidentally came upon the gates of the Home of Hope orphanage in Kochi, on a tourist’s trip to India. There, they found 75 orphaned and abandoned girls who were sleeping on the concrete floor of a school assembly hall. The Salesian sisters, who had taken them in, were having difficulty feeding the children. The orphanage was living on the threshold of mere survival.

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Hear Paul Wilkes tell the story of how his visit to Home of Hope changed his life, and the steps he has taken in order to provide help and support for the orphaned and neglected children of India.

In one of our locations in Secunderabad, the sisters were struggling to house and feed hundreds of street children brought to them. We have made it our goal to build a second orphanage, and are currently working in conjunction with architects in India and in the US to qualify for a LEED certification as an environmentally friendly and resource conscious structure.

  Maradiyur

In a poor rural area in Maradiyur, there is a critical need for an orphanage to house abandoned and abused girls. The complex will contain not only an orphanage and hostel, but a grade and high school, and a vocational training center so that the girls, single mothers and destitute villagers can learn the skills that will lift them out of poverty.

  Waves of Hope

In a place where surfing is foreign to almost everyone, three Americans, six 9-foot surfboards, two nuns and 23 orphaned girls had the experience of a lifetime. This unique surfing safari was a journey that created confidence, hope, and joy for the orphan girls at Home of Hope.
